HAND OF FREEDOM:Â THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF THE PLUMMER FAMILY
Former slave, Adam Francis Plummer, began to keep a diary in 1841, and maintained it for over sixty years.     His diary documented day-to-day life along with poignant stories of the sale and separation of the Plummer family members. The diary tells the story of their long struggle to reunite after the end of the Civil War.Â
The Backyard of Derek Webster’s Imagination
This exhibition showcases the work of Folk artist, Derek Webster. His whimsical sculptures reflect his South American heritage and utilized found materials recovered from his Chicago neighborhood.

This exhibition displayed works from The Spiral Collective. The Spiral collective represented an effort to build a community ethic among diverse artists drawing from common cause with broader movements for political and social justice.
Separate and Unequaled:Â Black Baseball in the District of Columbia
This exhibition will be a permanent outdoor exhibit located in the Washington Nationals baseball stadium. It explores the history of Black baseball in Washington, D.C. It will inform visitors on baseball’s once-segregated past and the players who changed the game in the District.
BRIDGING THE AMERICAS: Community and Belonging from Panama to Washington, D.C.
This exhibition was a semi-permanent exhibit installed in the museum’s Program Room. This exhibition presents the various ways in which Zonians and Panamanians in the D.C. metropolitan area think about home and belonging in the former Panama Canal Zone and Washington, D.C.
